TAKE ACTION: Proposed Presidential Budget Eliminates 21st CCLC Funding Entirely
Last week, President Trump released his proposed FY2018 budget to the public. It eliminates all funding for 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC).
Despite his commitment to children and families, Trump’s budget does the opposite. By stripping the $1.167 billion from 21st CCLC, the White House is putting the lives of children and their families at risk across the nation. Set aside the decades of research that shoes the positive impacts of afterschool and summer learning. There are thousands of kids who use these services every day. 21st CCLC programs are not just safe places for kids to learn and grow, but an integral part of communities across the United States.
MAP is devoted to maintaining and increasing the 21st CCLC line item because we understand the immense importance so many students and their families place on those services in Massachusetts. We ask that you call your Representative and Senators and tell them to keep 21st CCLC in the budget.
MAP also maintains a catalog of all of our state research which you can find here.
